Q

what is the protien digestibility corrected amino acid score (PDCAAS) equation

A

PDCASS=true fecal protien digestability x (mg of first limiting amino acid in 1 g of test protien/ mg of same AA in 1 g of reference protien)

→ PDCASS= amino acid score x digestability

Q

what are the steps of using the PDCAAs equation

A
  1. calculate % protien for each ingredient. To do this divide ingredient protien content by total protien
  2. Multiply protien percentage by digestability factor and whatever number it is that means only that will be digested
    1. to get the total digestability from ingredients, add
  3. add up each essential amino acid to see the total of that amino acid
  4. now divide that number by the total protien to get g per 1 gram
  5. multiply by 1000 to get 1 mg/ g
  6. calculate amino acid score: divide amino acid by amino acid content in reference protien
  7. finally multiply the limiting amino acid score by the total ingredient digesability found
