Four S’s
- Seen: A child needs to have their inner life attended to by caregiver. “Feeling Felt”.
- Soothe: Caregiver is gonna carry out an action which makes me feel calmer when in distress.
- Safety: Attachment system is formed to protect the child. Protected from harm and caregiver is not the source of harm or terror.
- Security: Supports resilience. Be able to come back and repair (no such thing as ‘perfect parent’) and then move on providing prior “S”’s.
Three P’s
- Presence: Aware of what’s happening when it’s happening. You can cultivate presence.
- Parenting: Provide the four S’s.
- Planet: Job as parent is raising your children to respect and love nature/Earth.
Two R’s
- Reactive state :(Fight, Flight, Freeze, of Faint). You can not parent in a reactive state. Repair? Move from reactive to receptive.
- Receptive state: Feeling calm. Differentiated.
One M
MWE: (we, others, Earth) Integrated Identity, self with others and planet Earth.

Subsystem: Individual members, dyads, triangles in a family system.
Systems: Family or other emotional bond group.
Suprasystem: Larger social constructs (historical, cultural, economic, developmental (adolescence), etc.).

- Represents a shift from individual resilience to systemic resilience.

If There is already a crisis with a pre-existing stressor, smaller stressor will build up and any little stressor will turn into crisis.
