Quiz #2 Flashcards
Shoulder
GH Joint
Type
Synovial, Diarthrotic, Multi-axial, Ball and Socket
Main shoulder mover
Shoulder
Scapulothoracic Joint
Type
Not a true joint, Modified Gliding, Mostly consists of muscle tissue (serrates andterior and Subscapularis) CT, Fascia and large Sub Scapular Bursa. Accessory joint that aids and stabilizes the GH Joint
Shoulder
SC / Sternoclavicular Joint
Type
Synovial, Saddle or Plane, Diarthrotic, Milti/Triaxial
Accessory joint that attached the upper arm to the axial skeleton via clavicle
Shoulder
AC / Acromioclavicular
Type
Diarthrotic, Synovial, Plane, Multiaxial
Accessory joint that attached the scapula to the axial skeleton via the clavicle
Shoulder
GH Joint
Ligaments
Anteriorly: Superior, Middle & Inferior Glenorhumeral Ligaments; Superiorly: Coracohumeral ligament and the transverse humeral ligament (holds biceps long head tendon in interbercular groove).
Shoulder
SC Joint
Ligaments
Capsule, Sternoclavicular Ligament (Anterior & Posterior), Interclavicular Ligamen, Costoclacivualr Ligament. Articular Disc
Shoulder
AC Jont
Ligaments
Fibrous Capsule, Acromioclavicular Ligament, Coracoclavicular Ligaments (Trapezoid, Conoid), Coracoacromial Ligament.
Shoulder
GH Joint
Bursa
Largest bursa in the shoulder located just below the Deltoid muscle / just below acromion. Subacromial or Subdeltoid
Shouder
GH Joint
Loose packed or Resting Position
40º - 55º Abduction
30º of Horizontal Adduction (in the scapular Plane)
Shoulder
GH Joint
Close Packed Position
Full Abduction with lateral rotation (External Rotation)
Shoulder
GH Joint
Capsular Pattern of Restriction
Lateral Rotaiton , Abduction, Medial Rotation
Shoulder
Subacromial Space
Region between the humerus and the acromion. The rood is formed by the coracoacromial ligament.
Scapulathorcic Joint Function
Increase the ROM of Shoulder = greater reach
Maintains - length - tension relationship with deltoid muscle
Provides GH stability: GH head alignment
Injury prevention through shock absorption
Permits elevatin of the body.
Muscles of the shoulder
Flexion: Anterior Deltoid, Biceps Brachii, pectoralis major
Extension: Posterior Deltoid, Triceps Brachii
Abduction: Middle Deltoid, Supraspinatus
Adduction: Teres Major, Latissimus Dorsi
Horizontal Adduction: Pectoralis Major, Coracobrachialis
Internal Rotation: Supscapularis, Pectoralis Major, Latissimus Dorsi
External Rotation: Infraspinatus, Teres minor.
