Quiz 1 Stuff - Class II prep technique Flashcards
Resistance Form for Class II cavity prep:
Resistance = avoid fracture of tooth and filling.
Pulpal floor depth: 1.5- 2.0 mm
.5 mm to dentin
90 degree cavosurface margin
axial walls parallel to long axis of tooth
parallel to DEJ
removal of unsupported enamel to avoid tooth fracture
M/D wall divergence to avoid undermining marginal ridge
rounded internal line angles
beveled axio-pulpal line angle
245 bur diameter:
.8 mm
Composite Retention:
.5 mm 45 degree Bevel along Lingual and Buccal extensions of the box
201.3 bur
amalgam retention:
retentive grooves at axio-buccal line angle and axio-lingual line angle.
.25 mm at deepest point, fade out at DEJ.
Mesial / Distal should be
Slightly divergent
Retention for Class II preps:
Flat pulpal floor
dovetail
B/L wall convergence
Perpendicular to long axis of tooth - gingival floor
Composite = bevel proximal box enamel margins (45 degree, .5mm bevel)
Amalgam = retentive grooves at A-B line angle and A-L line angle. (.25 mm deepest point, fade out at DEJ)
Gingival floor: ___ mm into dentin:
.5 mm into dentin
