Quiz #1 Flashcards
Explain the relationship among the fields of Biological Psychology, Biopsychology, and Behavioral Neuroscience.
The goal of this field is to understand the brain structure and functions ( they study the brain) that respond to experiences and generate behavior (how the brain affects behavior).
Describe the difference between Monism and Dualism in terms of the relationship between Biology and Behavior.
Monism - all behavior can be traced to specific brain activity.
Dualism - The mind and body are completely two different things.
Give an example of each of the three main approaches to studying the neuroscience of behavior.
Somatic Intervention: give hormones, measure strength of mating behavior.
Behavior intervention: put a male and female together and measure hormone changes.
Correlation: not manipulating anything, only measuring and observing both.
