Often called Organ system-level it consists of related organs with a common function for example the digestive system
Anatomical position?
Standard position of reference for the description of anatomical structures the subject stand erect facing the observer with head level and facing directly forward the feet ate flat on the floor and directed forward the upper limbs are at the sides with hands facing forward
The structure or body structure
Six levels of body structure. chemical, cellular, tissue, organ, system and organismal level
Tissue
Group of cells and the material surrounding them that work together to perform a particular function
Organ
Structures that are composed of two or more different types of tissues and they have specific functions and are usually recognizable shapes ie;heart, brain etc
Transverse plane
Divides the body or organ into upper and lower portions it might also be termed cross-sectional plane or horizontal plane
Saggital
A vertical plane that divides the body or organ into right and left sides
Frontal or Coronal plane
Divides the body or in Organ into front and back portions
Lateral
Further from the midline medial lateral is on either side of the midline. The sides
Superficial
Ribs are superficial to the lungs, or towards the surface of the body
Deep
Away or further inside
Superior
The head or the top of the body as opposed to inferior or foot
Inferior
Inferior lower. As the stomach is inferior to the lungs
Distal
Farther from the ordination of structure as the hand from the shoulder, it is distal
Proximal
Closest, the Arm bone is proximal to the radius, Nearest to the trunk of the body
