Parainfluenza 1 or 3, Influenza A or B

Dx: Neck XR (steeple sign, narrowing air column)
Tx: Humidified O2, Epi inhaled, Dexamethasone, oral)

Epiglottitis
H. Influenzae type B, S. Pyogenes, S. Pneumo, S. aureus, Mycoplasma
A
Dx: Neck XR (thumb print sign),blood cultures, epiglottic swab culture (treat before work up)
Tx: Transfer to OR/ED; Intubate;
IV ceftriaxone 7-10 days and steroids

Bacterial Tracheitis
S. aureus

CXR: subglottic narrowing with ragged tracheal air column
Tx: Antistaphylococcal antibiotics
