Describe Lisfranc’s injury
Dislocation of the base of the 2nd metatarsal + medial cuneiform of the midfoot
Usually occurs with direct twisting or forced plantar flexion
First line management of carpal tunnel syndrome in a pregnant woman
Conservative management with wrist splinting
Patient with airway difficulties following fall from height. What is first appropriate action ?
Place a cervical collar.
(Patient may have sustained injury to the cervical spine. Must be placed in collar until this is ruled out)
Head tilt, chin lift for airway opening is contraindicated as this may worsen cervical spine injury
Patient in cast with suspected compartment syndrome - what to do ?
- Remove cast
- If symptoms persist, urgent fasciotomy
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) appearance on X-ray ?
Normal X-ray
