questions (exam) Flashcards
1
Q
explain two processes in the formation of offshore bars
A
- offshore bars can be created when waves approach the shore but break on a submerged bar, this causes deposition of larger material that they are carrying so an offshore bar can be built up.
- offshore bars are created when berms are eroded by destructive waves. sediment from these berms is then deposited offshore in a low energy area causing offshore bars to be created which acts as sediment sinks.
