What is Folk Culture?
A
Folk Culture is traditional practices which commonly occur within local communities and rural areas which focus on maintaining archaic cultural ideas and history which have played an important role in the creation of the community. An example might be maypole dancing, chasing the cheese wheel or burning Guy Fawkes.
These practices often relate to historical traditions which have influenced society and played a prominent role in the lives of people in previous years. This can also involve wearing the clothes, eating the food and speaking in a similar way to the people in which the culture relates to.
