What is a leading question? And give an example of a leading question.
A leading question is where the question gives a preferred answer and is making it hard to answer anything other than.
E.g: Do you agree that Tesco is the best supermarket?
When designing a questionnaire, what is good to include?
You should have a timeframe specified for example; How many hours of T.V do you watch per week? The boxes must fit for everyone.
‘Do you agree that the proposed pension scheme should be compulsory?’
This question is leading.
Rewrite the question so that it is not leading. You should include response boxes.
Should the proposed pension scheme be compulsory?

What is an open question and give 1 disadvantages and advantage.
Have no suggested answers and gives people the chance to reply how they wish
Advantage- allows for a range of answers
Disadvantage- hard to analyse: wide range of answers
What is a closed question and give a advantage and disadvantage.
Gives a set of answers for the person to choose from
Advantage- restricts answers making it easier to analyse the response
Disadvantage- will not necessarily cover all answers
What is a pilot study?
A pilot study is a pre-test to see if there is a line of enquiry to investigate further. It is a small scale replica of the survey/study. It can identify any problems with the wording of the questions, likely responses etc.
Reasons to do a pilot study?
- Show if questions are understandable/clear
- Indicates likely answers
- Gives an indication of how long it takes to complete
- Finds errors
- Give feedback so alterations can perhaps be made
What is a interview and give as many disadvantages and advantages for them?
An interview is a one on one conversation which allows any ambiguities the interviewee may have with the questions to be rectified
Advantage- all questions are answered
Disadvantages- time consuming
- expensive
