What are the types of sampling?
Random Sampling
Quasi random sampling (every tenth or hundredth name selected)
Stratified random sampling (dividing population into groups and then taking a small sample of each)
Quota sampling (researcher looks for the right people)
Snowball sampling (people find more people with the same characteristics)
Cluster sampling (dividing a population into groups - usually geographically)
Advantages
quick, cheap, reliable, representative, generalisable, patterns cuz of pre-coded questions, objective
Disadvantages
Inflexible, low response rate, can be biased, can be unvalid
What are the 2 types of questionnaires?
Open ended and Closed ended
What are Open ended questionnaires?
Questionnaires with a number of pre-set questions with NO pre-set answers.
What type of data do open ended questionnaires produce?
Qualitative
What are close ended questionnaires?
Questionnaires with a limited number of possible answers eg. ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions
What type of data do closed ended questionnaires produce?
Quantitative
