Structured Interviews - Advantages
cheap, representative, generalisable, high response rate, quick, reliable
Structured Interviews - Disadvantages
lack validity because of closed ended questions and social desirability effects = people can lie and exaggerate, inflexibility, can be biased

rapport, sensitivity, validity, flexible
Unstructured Interviews - Disadvantages
time consuming, unrepresentative, ungeneralisable, unreliable, social interaction could distort the validity, not quantifyable, can be biased, artificiality
Group Interviews Advantages & Disadvantages
Advantages:
Participants may feel more comfortable with others and open up
Ideas from others stimulate the groups thinking
Increase validity because of comfort
Disadvantages:
1 or 2 people might dominate the discussion
Researchers skills and characteristics
Peer group pressure could reduce validity
Lack reliability
Lack representativeness
