questionnaires✅ Flashcards
what is a questionnaire?
pre- set list if questions which a ppt responds too
AO3 :
✅ 2 strengths
✅ can be distributed to Alot of ppl. can gather large amounts of data quickly which reduces the efforts involved and makes q’aires more effective.
✅ respondents may be willing to ‘open up’ and share more personal info and less social desirability bias then there would be in an interview.
AO3:
❌ 2 weaknesses
❌ responses may not always be truthful. respondents may try to present themselves in a more positive light and social desirability bias is still possible.
❌ response bias, respondents may favour a particular kind of response eg always agreeing. meaning all respondents tend to reply in a similar way… or just rush it
design of questionnaires:
what are 3 things you need to avoid when making a questionnaire?
1- avoid leading questions
2- avoid lengthy, double- barrelled questions
3- avoid jargon
design of questionnaires:
what are closed questions?
what type of data does this tend to be?
✅ strength?
❌ weakness?
the reposondent has limited choices
quantitative data
✅ easy to analyse, can produce graphs and charts fro comparison. therefore conclusions are easily drawn.
❌ respondents are restricted, forced into an answer so may not represent true feelings so validity of findings is decreased.
design of questionnaires:
what are open questions?
what type of data tends to be produced?
✅strength?
❌ weakness?
respondents provide their own answers expressed in words.
qualitative data
✅ respondents aren’t restricted, answers are going to be more detailed and more likely to be of higher validity than statistics
❌ difficult to analyse, closed answers produce. a wider variety of answers so you be be forced reduce data to statistics.
