what are the 5 ways you can display quantitative data? briefly explain what they are
1- tables = scores displayed in columns and rows
2- bar chart = categories/ discrete data( x axis), frequency ( y axis)
3- histogram = bars touch eachtoher, data is continuous rather then discrete
4- line graph = frequency on 1 axis, continuous data on other axis
5- scattergram = correlational analysis, dots represent one pair related data
what are the two types of distribution?
normal distribution = symmetrical/ bell-shaped curve. the mean,median and mode all occupy the same mid-point of the curve
skewed distributions = distributions that lean to one side or the other bc most ppl are either at the lower or upper end
what is standard deviation?
measure of the average spread around the mean , the larger the standard deviation, the more spread out the data
basically it’s a spread of scores and a measure of the amount of variation or dispersion of a set of values (mean)
if some one got 1 and some one for 100 is would be a high standard deviation but if some one got 1 and some one got 5 it would be small.
what is the mode, median, mean and range?
mode = most often number
mean = all numbers added together divided by how many there are
median= numbers in order, middle number
range= biggest number - smallest number
