What does Question 1 require you to do? How do you go about answering it?
Q1 = ‘Give two reasons from Source A which show’ (2 marks)
You need to identify two pieces of information from the source
What does Question 2 require you to do? How do you go about answering it?
Q2 = ‘Outline two…’ (4 marks)
Identify two actions/decisions/causes/ factors for change
What does Question 3 require you to do? How do you go about answering it?
Q3 = ‘How useful are sources A and B as evidence of…’ (10 marks)
- Make a judgement on the usefulness of BOTH sources
- Say where the source is useful
- Say where the source is limited (bring in own knowledge here)
- Must consider both NOP and content
What does Question 4 require you to do? How do you go about answering it?
Q4 = Key features - ‘Describe the key features of…’ (6 marks)
- Make three points and develop them (use three separate paragraphs)
- Use the following to give your answer structure - 1) Why did it happen 2) What happened 3) Consequences?
What does Question 5 require you to do? How do you go about answering it?
Q5 = ‘Explain the importance of the following in international relations’ (15 marks)
- Pick 3 out of 4 events listed in the question
- For each one: state its importance, provide factual detail on the event (who, what, when, where, why?), explain whether it increased or reduced tensions between the USA and USSR
What does Question 6 require you to do? How do you go about answering it?
Q6 = ‘Explain why relations changed in the years…’ (13 marks + 3 SPAG)
- Write about 3-4 reasons
- Link them (furthermore, moreover)
- prioritise them in your conclusion and explain why you have prioritised them this way
