A

> for three marks there will be one method identified and two clearly identifiable linked strands of explanation between the statements. these may contain connective words such as ‘this leads to’ ‘because’ etc
AS ITS EXPLAIN ONE METHOD, YOU CAN NOT GIVE THREE SEPARATE POINTS
AS ITS EXPLAIN ONE METHOD, YOU CAN NOT GIVE A DEFINITION
the answer must be rooted in the context of the question to secure all three marks.

6 mark question - assessing two options

A

> make a judgement/point on one or both issues with some development/support , which includes at least two reasons/causes/consequences
the answer must be rooted in the context of the question
you must include balance. you can achieve this by giving reasons/causes/consequences for both options or giving a for and against argument for one of the options
the answer needs an overall conclusion

8 mark split question - advantage/disadvantage

A

> split the question into two fours(2x4 marks)
4 marks awarded for advantage with development and 4 marks awarded for disadvantage with development
within the answer there will be at least three clearly identifiable strands of explanation and reference to the context for each advantage/disadvantage considered. these may contain connective words such as ‘this leads to’ ‘because’ etc.
answer must be rooted in the context of the question

A

> there is chance that they will ask to assess 2 points
you need at least two suitable factors that are fully developed (includes at least two reasons/causes/consequences),evidence of balance both sides of the argument e.g advantages and disadvantages, context and a conclusion using the ‘it depends rule’
