The subtypes and defintiions of different acute coronary syndrome and manaagement

A
  • Unstable angina - Cardiac chest pain + abnormal/normal ECG + normal troponin
  • NSTEMI - Cardiac chest pain + abnormal/normal ECG (but not ST-elevation) + raised troponin
    • Mx = Aspirin 300mg, GTN spray, morphine/diamorphose, antithrombin therapy
  • STEMI - Cardiac chest pain + Persistent ST-elevation/new LBBB (note that there is no need for a troponin in this case).
    • Mx = O2 therapy, aspirin 300mg, gtn SPRAY, iv morphine/diamorphine, PCI if present within 12hours pain
  • Post MI: Apsirin, beta blcoker, ace inhibitor, high dose statin

  • If small AAA (3-4.4cm) – offered yearly repeat ultrasound
  • If medium AAA (4.5-5.4cm) – offered repeat ultrasound every 3 months
  • If large AAA (>5.5cm) – surgery generally recommended.
