Quantitative Chem Flashcards
Atomic Number
The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
Mass Number
The number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom
Isotopes
Atoms of the same element with different number of neutrons in the nucli
Mole
the amount of substance, expressed in grams, which contains as many elementry particals as in 12g of carbon
Molar Volume
The volume occupied by 1 mole of any gas at the standard temperature and pressur
Solute
The substance that is dissolved in the solvent to from a solution
Solvent
The substance in which the solute is dissolved in, forming a solution
Aqueos Solution
If the solvent used is water, then the solution is known as an Aqueos Solution
Dissociation
Ionic bonds dissociate when they are dissolved in water to form an aquoes solution
Ionization
Takes place when a colvalent compound dissolves in water
Gaseous Solution
Are formed when gases occupy the entire volume of the container
Concentration
The number of moles per unit volume of solution
Theoretical yield
The maximum amount of product which can be produced based in a chemical reaction
Actual Yeild
The actual amount of product prodeced
