Quant: Lecture 5 Flashcards
What does the related t test calculate?
It tests for the differences between the conditions from which you can look for significance.
How do you calculate a related t test?
Find the mean of condition 1 and condition 2. Then minus the scores in condition 1 from the scores in condition 2 (x-y). Find the total to get ED and then square it to get (ED)2. Then square all the scores in the x-y column and total it to get ED2. Then put all the answers into the formula provided. After this, find the degrees of freedom, N-1. Put your score into the table of critical values to see its significance.
How do you word your answer for a related t test?
For a * tailed test, with df, the calculated t value () was er than the critical value () at a significance level of p
What is another term for an unrelated design?
Name one disadvantage of a related design
Pre test post test control design.
People might just be responding to the testing alone.
What is another term for a mixed design?
How does this design work?
Solomon four group design
It consists of 4 groups, an experimental group which does the pre and post test as well as the experiment and three control groups. One control just does the pre and post test, another does the experiment and post test and the other one only does the post test.
What is the 2 by 2 design?
It’s where there are four conditions that can all be compared with each other, as well as being isolated. The best design to use.
