Qualitiive data and quantative data
They cannot be quanitifed numerically and may be more descriptive or creative.
Quantative data can be quantified numerically and statisical analyses can be performed on them.
Statistics
Sensus data gives lots of information about what the place is like in terms of its population, average income, ethnicity religions.
They are objective and cannot be used subjecitively, they dont usually although tell you much about the sense of place
Not always accurate
Maps
Maps can be used to show any sort of data that has a location, they can show quantative demographic and economic data.
Some show qualitive information such as happiness that give us info about sense of place.
2019 Multiple index of deprivation based on 39 seperate indicators, Brick lane is ranked 6,850 in England out of 32,000.
Qualititaive OS maps give us information abour current landuse, brick lane mosque. Google maps, helps us understand land use further, shops other stuff.
Charles booth maps, relatively subective but gives us past information up to 1903 on the deprivation, massive inequality, some people labedled as lowerest class and semi criminal and others labeled as mixed and middle class.
Films, Art and photos
Visual representations show us what a place looks like, and can give us some sense of the character of the place, however they only represent what they artist wants to show you.
Photos can be altered, taking and different times, films and tv are dependant on the nature of the story behind it and can also be altered. Paintings become less reliable but can portray sense of place and character.

Monica Ali, Brick lane, a women who grew up and lived in londons east end around the people, cultures and customs.
Oral history, Mohammed Osman Gani who settled in Spitalfields in the 1970s tells the story of brick lane, the anti racist protests and the community anc cultures they live in.
