Quadriceps femoris (anterior thigh muscles) Flashcards
Origin of rectus femoris?
Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine, acetabular roof of hip joint
Insertion of rectus femoris?
Tibial tuberosity (via patellar ligament)
Innervation of quadriceps femoris?
Femoral n. (L2-L4)
Action of fectus femoris?
Hip joint: flexion
Knee joint: extension
Origin of vastus medialis?
Linea aspera (medial lip), intertrochanteric line (distal part)
Insertion of vastus medialis, vastus lateralis?
Both sides of tuberosity on medial and lateral condyles (via medial and longtiduinal patellar retinacula)
Action of vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius?
Knee joint: extension
Origin of vastus lateralis?
Linea aspera (lateral lip) Greater trochanter (lateral surface)
Origin of vastus intermedius?
Femoral shaft (anterior side)
Insertion of vastus intermedius?
Tibial tuberosity (via patellar ligament)
Origin of articularis genus?
Anterior side of femoral shaft at level of suprapatellar recess
Insertion of articularis genus?
Suprapatellar recess of knee joint capsule
Action of articularis genus?
Knee joint: extension; prevents entrapment of capsule
5 parts of quadriceps femoris?
Rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, articularis genus
