Q

Traffic Avoidance TA

A

Look for traffic using traffic display as a guide. Call out any conflicting traffic.

If traffic is sighted, maneuver if needed.

Do not use FD commands until clear of traffic

34
Q

Traffic RA (normal)

A

If maneuvering is needed, disengage the autopilot and disengage the autothrottle. Smoothly adj pitch and thrust to satisfy the RA command.
Follow the planned lateral flight path unless visual contact with the conflicting traffic requires other action.

Attempt to establish visual contact*. Call out any conflicting traffic.

  • Visually acq traffic may not be the same as RA traffic. Vis perception may be misleading, esp at night.

If stick shaker occurs, immed follow the appr to stall man.

Note: do not follow a DESCEND (fly down) RA issued below 1000 feet AGL

35
Q

Traffic Climb RA in LDG config

A

Disengage AP and AT. Adv Thrust FWD to MAX thrust and call FLAPS 15.
Smoothly adj pitch to satisfy the RA command.
Follow the planned lateral flight path unless visual contact with the conflicting traffic required otherwise.

Verify + ROC on the ALT and call GEAR UP

Attempt to establish visual contact.* Call out any conflicting traffic.

  • Visually acq traffic may not be the same as RA traffic. Vis perception may be misleading, esp at night.
