Q14Hamstrings 2 Flashcards
What are the action(s) of Semitendinosus and Semimembranosus?
Extension of the hip
Flexion of the knee
Medial rotation the leg when the knee is at 90 degrees of flexion
Give the attachments of Semitendinosus.
Proximally: the lower medial part of the ischial tuberosity
Distally: the medial surface of the medial condyle of the tibia (Pes Anserinus) posterior to sartorius and gracilis
Give the attachments of Semimembranosus.
Proximally: upper lateral part of the ischial tuberosity.
Distally: posteromedial surface of the medial tibial condyle.
Name the third muscle in the Hamstring group.
(Semitendinosus and Semimembranosus given)
Biceps Femoris
Name one functional activity in which the Hamstrings participate.
Principally active in raising the trunk from the flexed position and control movement eccentrically when bending down to pick something up from the floor.
Hip extension and Knee flexion phase of running/kicking
