Staff
A set of 5 lines and 4 spaces on which music is written.
Treble Cleff
G clef; encircles the second line of the staff and names it “G.”
Bass Clef
F Clef; indicates the fourth line of the staff with a dot and colon and names it “F.”
Grand Staff
Staff system that connects the treble and bass clef staves with a line and a brace.
Measure
The space between two bar lines on a staff.
Bar Line
Line that divides music on a staff.
Pitch
Audible representation of a musical note designating how high or low a sound is.
Tempo
The speed of which a passage of music should be played.
Beat
Basic unit of rhythm by which music is divided.
Final Double Bar Line
Indicates the end of a piece of music; made up of one thin and one thick line.
