Accidental
An occurence of a sharp, flat, or natural sign in music, staying in effect for one measure.
Enharmonics
The same pitch identified by two different names. (EX: F# and Db)
Chord
Two or more different notes played together and sounds generally pleasing. (Looks like three notes stacked on top of each other)
Arpeggio
A broken chord when the notes are played one after another. (Looks like a staircase on the music staff)
Key Signature
A set of sharps or flats at the beginning of the music staff, indicating key of the composition. (Looks like a hashtag or a fancy b)
Time Signature
A symbol that appears at the beginning of the staff made up of two numbers, one above the other indicating how many beats are in a measure, and what type of note receives a beat. (Looks like a fraction)
Ledger Line
Sharp horizontal lines above or below the staff to extend the range of notes of the staff. (Looks like a line going through a note)
Fermata
A mark over a note or rest that is to be held for an unspecified amount of time. (Looks like an arch with a dot in the middle)
