What is the commonest metabolic abnormality in pyloric stenosis and why?

Hypochloraemic hypokalaemic alkalosis
Loss of stomach acid in vomiting –> results in reduction of potassium because of stimulation of H/K pump. Alkalosis and hypochloraemia because loss of acid.

Ramstedt pyloromyotomy

Definitive Ix for pyloric stenosis and what will you see?
A
USS.
1) Thickened elongated pyloric muscle
2) Increased muscle to lumen ratio
3) Decreased movement of fluid through the canal

A
Test feed –> can feel enlarged pylorus
