What scoring system used to assess severity of sore throat? What are the constituents an scoring for each?

Answer 1

FeverPAIN score (1 point for each):

• Fever in past 24 horus
• Inflammed tonsils
• Absent cough
• Presentation within 3 days of symptom onset
• Purulent tonsils

Centor score (1 point for each - suggests bacteria):

• Tonsillar exudate
• Fever
• Absent cough
• Cervical lymphadenopathy

Question 2

1st line Abx for strep throat for children

Answer 2

Phenoxymethylpenicillin

Clarithromycin (if pen allergic)
