What are some characteristics of glomerulonephritis?
Chronic condition, progresses rapicly, usually occurs after an infection. Most common form is IgA nephropathy
What are s/s of glomerulonephritis?
Hematuria
Proteinuria
Oligouria
How is glomerulonephritis managed?
Glucocorticoids ACE inhibitors Immunosuppressive agents Fluid may be restricted Diuretics may be used
Post-infectious glomerulonephritis
Acute renal inflammation after infection; prognosis is good after infection is terated
Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis
Can progress to renal failure in a few days to weeks
Chronic glomerulonephritis
Progresses to renal failure in 10-20 years
