PUNNET SQUARE Flashcards
A chart that allows you to determine the expected percentages of different genotypes in the offspring of two parents.
Punnet Square
Ratio of the different genotypes in the offspring from a genotype cross.
Genotype Ratio
Ratio of the different phenotypes in the offspring from a genetic cross.
Phenotypic Ratio
Single - factor cross.
Monohybrid Cross
Letters that make the up the individual: TT or tt.
Genotype
Physical characteristics of the particular trait: TALL or SHORT
Phenotype
Has the same letters: TT or tt
Homozygous
Has different letters: Tt
Heterozygous
Results when one allele is not dominant over the other. The resulting heterozygous exhibit the traits of both parents. Both alleles contribute to the phenotype. Offspring will have a combination of 2 alleles.
Co- Dominance
A heterozygous shows s phenotype that is intermediate between the 2 homozygous phenotypes. Neither allele is dominant over the other. One allele is not completely dominant over the other. A blending with the heterozygous offspring.
Incomplete Diminance
Pertain to the presence of three or more alleles for a particular gene.
Multiple Alleles
Eggplant incomplete dominance.
Phenotype: purple - pp
Different Patterns of Non- Mendelian Inheritance
Incomplete Dominance, Codominance, and Multiple Alleles
How many chromosomes are there in a human body?
46 chromosomes
How many pairs of chromosomes are there?
23 pairs of chromosomes
