Punctuation is the use of symbols to divide written words into sentences and clauses.

What is the period/full stop (.) used for??
It is placed at the end of a declarative sentence and other statements and thought to be complete. It is used to signify the end of a written sentence .
What is the question mark (?) used for
Used to indicate a direct question when placed at the end of a sentence .
What is exclamation mark (!) used for
It is used when a person wants to express sudden outcry or add emphasis.
What is the comma(,) used for?
It is used to indicate separation of ideas or elements within the structure of a sentence . It is also used to indicate a brief break in speech ; particularly between items
What is a semicolon (;) used for
It indicates pause typically between two main clauses
What is a colon (:) used for
It usually precedes an explanation such a quotation, example or list.
What is a dash??(______)
It’s a horizontal line that shows a pause in meaning, or that represents missing words letters.
What is a hyphen(-) used for
It is used to join words and separate syllables of a single word.
What are parenthesis used for
Curved notations usually to contain further thoughts or qualifying remarks
What are brackets used for
Are the squared of notation used within a sentence to include information that is necessary and essential to the main point.
What are braces used for?
Alternatively referred to as curly brackets usually used in computer programming, music notation and certain types of mathematical problems but rarely in articles.
What are apostrophes(‘) used for??
It is used to indicate the omission of a letter or letters from a word, the possessive case, or plural of Numbers, letters and abbreviations
What are quotation marks(“”) used for
Used primarily to mark the beginning and end of a passage attributed to another and repeated word for word, but also to indicate meaning and Indicate the usual or dubious status of a word
