What is literal comprehension
This is being able to process factual explicitly stated information e.g recall or recognition of main ideas
What is inferential comprehension
This is when the reader infers meaning that goes beyond explicitly stated information
What is evaluative comprehension
It requires the reader to move beyond the text to consider what they think and believe in relation to the message in the text. It is often referred to as “beyond the text” comprehension
What is lexical comprehension
It involves understanding the key vocabulary in the text

This process answers what if, why and how questions. It is quite similar to inferential
