Pump Manual - Field Math and Rounding Flashcards
Volume of a cylindrical container (in cubic feet)
= .7854 x D^2 x H
Calculating volume of water in hose lines in cubic inches
Volume = .7854 x D^2 x (L x 12)
- Have to multiply L by 12 to convert from feet to inches
Calculating gallon capacity of containers
Gallon capacity = 7.48 x V
Multiply the volume by 7.48 because there are 7.48 gallons in a cubic foot
Calculating gallon capacity of hose
Gallon capacity = V / 231
*231 is the number of number of cubic inches in a gallon
Calculating water weight of containers
Find the volume of the container in cubic feet and multiply by 62.4 (weight of 1 cubic ft water)
Weight (rectangular container) = (LxWxH) x 62.4
Weight (cylindrical container) = (.7854 x D^2 x H) x 62.4
Calculating weight of a hose line
Weight = # gal x 8.34
