pulmonary surfactant (apparnetly this is lecture 8) Flashcards
the respiratory airway?
maybe just draw it
cilia keeps things clean
properties of the resp airway?
23 branches from trachea to the alveolar duct
if we looka t cross sectional surface area, the cross section of the trachea is much smaller than the cross section of the bronchiole
the highest resistance to airflow is at the trachea and decreases as you move down
When the air rushes in there is greatest velocity at the trachea and then it decreases — slow laminar
describe the flow and area dyanmics
draw it plsssss
what are the pores of kohn
these holes that connect adjacent alveoli
describe chemical influences on airways
autonomic control of airways?
cough reflex vs inflation reflex?
restrictive lung diseases?
how does it impcat the fev1/fvc
memorise is verbatim
breathign
obstructive lung disease?
regional differences in ventilation within the lung>
the thing that is different is the intrapleural pressure
you can see that the negativity is greatest at the top of the lung because gravity is pushing the mass of the lung downards and reducing the intrapleural pressure at the bottom of the lung
