23 branches from trachea to the alveolar duct

if we looka t cross sectional surface area, the cross section of the trachea is much smaller than the cross section of the bronchiole

the highest resistance to airflow is at the trachea and decreases as you move down

When the air rushes in there is greatest velocity at the trachea and then it decreases — slow laminar

the thing that is different is the intrapleural pressure

you can see that the negativity is greatest at the top of the lung because gravity is pushing the mass of the lung downards and reducing the intrapleural pressure at the bottom of the lung
