Pulmonary Hypertension Flashcards
What happens to the right side of the heart in pulmonary hypertension?
It has to work harder. It will first thicken then dilate.
At what range for the RVSP is considered pulmonary hypertension?
> 30 mmHg
What vessel is used to determine the right atrial pressure (RAP)?
IVC. Evaluate the size and the ability to collapse
What is the formula for Bernoulli equation?
4(V)2 - four times the peak velocity squared
What is the formula for right ventricular systolic pressure (RVSP)?
RVSP = 4(V)2 + RAP - four times the TR peak velocity squared plus the RAP
What shape does the LV take when the pressures on the right side are increased?
D-shaped - Increased RV pressure cause the septum to press in on the LV
