What can cause pulmonary HTN?

A
  • Left heart disease- mitral pathology, LVF, LtoR shunt
  • Lung parenchyma- chronic hypoxia e.g. COPD, asthma, ILDs, CF
  • Hypoventilation- morbid obesity, kyphosis, scoliosis, MND

A

1- Chronic hypoxia
2- Pulmonary vessels may constrict
3- Buildup of pressure due to reduced bloodflow

A

Treat underlying cause

  • LTOT, CCB for reducing pulmonary vascular resistance
  • ACEi/Diuretics for heart failure
  • Heart/lung transplant
