Most likely complication of bronchiolitis in babies
Apnea and respiratory failure
Treatment for empyema (particularly after hemothorax) with a think rim
Surgery. Streptokinase in chest tube has little benefit
Immediate treatment or acute tension pneumothorax
Needle decompression. Chest tube placement can come after. Start to stabilize patient immediate with need decompression
Pneumonia and abdominal symptoms (diarhea etc)
Think legionella, CMV. Hyponatremia is very commonly seen in legionella
Criteria for starting home O2 in COPDy
PaO2 55%; nocturnal hypoxia. signs of cor pulmonare or pulmonary hypertension
Anterior mediastinal mass with elevated b-Hcg and AFP
Non seminomatous germ cell tumor. B-hcg is elevated in but seminomatous and non seminomatous. But only non seminomatous produces both Bhcg and AFP
Patient from Wisconsin, presents with fevers, chills, night sweats, unintentional weight loss , mildly productive cough. You also notice a few skin lesions and lyric bone lesions
Think Blastomycosis.
Medications that cause interstitial lung disease
Amiodarone, Busulfan, nitrofuratoin,bleomycin, radiation, long term high O2 concentration
Criteria for ARDS diagnosis
Acute onset
