what must you think of w/ H2 blockers?
renal/hepatic dysfunction
moa of misoprostol?
Prostoglandin analog inc bicarb and mucus secretion
- Good for prevention, but not tx of active ulcers
- CI: premenopausal women because it is abortifacent
bismuth compounds moa
antibacterial and cytoprotective
what are adr of bismuth compounds?
darkening of tongue/stool, constipation
what is the moa of sucralfate?
cytoportective, more prophylactic than tx
what are some DI of sucralfate?
may reduce H2, PPI, FQ
what are causative factors of DU?
increasing damaging: acid, pepsin, H, pyloir
what is the incidence of DU?
4x more common; normally benign; MC in duodenal bulb
what age do pple normally present with DU?
younger, 30-55 yo
what are causative factors of GU?
decrease protective: mucus, bicarb, prostaglandins, NSAIDs
incidence of GU?
4% malignant, MC in antrum of stomach
age of Gu?
older, 55-70 yo
