What is the purpose of the MATS PT1?

A

The Manual of Air Traffic Services contains procedures, instructions and information which are intended to form the basis of ATS within the UK.
It is published for use by civil air traffic controllers & may also be of general interest to others associated with civil aviation

What is the purpose of the MATS PT2?

A

The MATS pt2 contains instructions that apply to a particular ATSU, produced locally & approved by the CAA.
They amplify and interpret, at a local level, MATS PT 1 instrcutions. Any authorisation required by MATS PT1 is to appear in MATS PT 2
