Drug Offense

Sometimes accepted for medical use, high potential for abuse and doctors can prescribe but very stringent

Currently accepted for medical use, lower potential for abuse and doctors routinely perscribe
Schedule 4 Drugs
Currently accepted for medical use, lower potential for abuse and doctors routines prescribe
Schedule 5 Drugs
Currently accepted for medical use, low potential for abuse and can be purchased over the counter
Drug Trafficking
The manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, importing, and exporting of a controlled counterfeit substance.
Pharmaceutical Diversion
the process by which legitimately manufactured controlled substances are diverted for illicit use

Decriminalization and Legalization
Decriminalization
The redefinition of certain previously criminal behaviors into regulated activities that become “ticket-able” rather than “arrest-able”
Legalization
Elimination of the laws and criminal penalties associated with certain behaviors- usually the production, sale, distribution, and possession of a controlled substance.
