Industrial Revolution
because of the industrial revolution a lot pf people were moving to big cites to get better job opportunities. increasing the urban population creating a number of heath issues
laissez-faire attitude
during the first half of the 19th century the goverment had this laissez-faire mentality towards the public heath
what did Chadwick do?
he wrote called the sanitary conditions of the labouring populating
problems with housing and hygiene

one water pump for 20-30 families
what was the problem with diseases
chlorera->20000 dies from it
there was no vaccines
workhouses payed by the ratepaer
payed by taxes
no one wanted to spend money on them

set up their local bored of health
appoint a local medical officer
build sewer system
organise the removal of rubbish
what were the disadvantages of the 1848 public health act
it was only temporary for 5 years
lake of reinforcment allowed local authorities to improve hygiene but did not force them to do so
Chadwick was arrogent and agressive to work with so not meany people accepted his idea
what did snow do to prove that cholera came from infected water and not miasma
he took a map from soho and went around asking people in there houes id any family member had dies from cholera. the most deaths were near the
