Days 6-13
Develops soft spongy lining (to feed and protect the fertilised egg)
Egg matures in ovary
Days 1-5
Thick lining of womb breaks down
Blood flows out through the vagina plus unfertilised egg
New egg begins to ripen in ovary
Day 14
Ovulation
Days 15-28
Egg slowly passes down the oviduct or Fallopian tube
If it meets a sperm it will be fertilised usually does not and dies in a few days
LCycle begins again.
Why is the lining thick and spongy and contain lots of blood vessels
To protect embryo and give embryo nutrients
What is maturation of the egg
When an egg ripens in the ovary before ovulation
