Criteria I
Exposure to a traumatic event that (a) involved the direct personal experience or witnessing and (b) elicited a response involving intense fear, helplessness, or horror.
Criteria II
Persistent **re-experiencing **of traumatic event
Criteria III
Pesistance **avoidance **stimuli associated with trauma and generalized **numbing for responsiveness **
Criteria IV
Persistent symptoms, at least 2 - difficulty falling or staying asleep, irritability, outburst of anger, difficulty concentrating
Criteria V
Symptoms present for at least **1 month **and cause significan impairment
Specifiers
- **Acute - ** less than 3 months
- **Chronic **- 3 months or more.
- Delayed Onset - At least **6 months **after stressor
Differential with Acute Stress Disorder
**Acute **has an onset within 4 weeks and at least 2 days of symptoms.
