Criteria 1
Multiple cognitive deficits manisfested by memory impairment plus at least one of the following disturbances: aphasia (comprehension and formulation of language), apraxia (impaired movement), agnosia (inability to interpret sensations), or disturbance in executive function.
Criteria 2
Cognitive deficits cause significant impariment in function
Criteria 3
Dementia is not given if deficits occur during the course of delirium
Criteria 4
There is evidence that symptoms are due to a general medical condition and/or effects of medication or other substance.
Deficits in functioning
Anterograde (difficulty acquiring info) and retrograde (difficulty recalling info). Anterograde is more evident, usually, in beginning of disorder.
Dementia of the Alzheimer’s Type

- Graual onset of symptoms.
- Slow progressive decline in congnitive funcitoning.
