PT APTT ( Coagulation Test) Flashcards
Prothrombin time ref range
11-13 seconds
What is the PT used for
To assess the deficiencies of extrinsic and common pathway
What is STYPVEN time for?
It is a variation of PT test that uses Russell’s viper venom instead of lipoprotein as an activator, bypassing the activation of Factor VII and directly activates factor X.
- It is used to differentiate between factor X and factor VII deficiency.
INR (International Normalized Ratio)
Standardized reporting of the PT worldwide, because the result will not be dependent on the type of reagent or instrument use for determining the result.
Panic value for INR
> 3.5
Why is APTT being tested?
To assess the deficiencies of intrinsic and common pathway
Reagents used in PT
- Tissue extract from brain and lung tissue
- Phospholipids
- CaCl2
