How would you describe Generalised Anxiety Disorder?
Often valid concerns regarding family/finance/safety, but to a disproportionate levels.
Worried about worrying.
- “what’s your worst case scenario” (may be extreme)
- “any physical symptoms?”
- Screen for neuro-vegetative signs.
Define OCD…
unwanted pervasive thoughts, images or impulses.
- ? compulsions: Behaviours that decrease their worry
When screening for psychosis (delusions and hallucinations) what screening aspects of this should you cover?
- Are people out to get you? Persecution
- Hear things noones else hears? Auditory
- See things you know aren’t real? Visual

Feel like people are watching/monitoring you? Paranoid
- ***do you experiance these even when you do not use alcohol or drugs?? Rule out substance abuse
- Do you get messages from adverts/internet etc? Referential delusions
Apathy: definition
a lack of emotions or desire, a feeling of non-involvement or not caring
Catalepsy: definition
Waxy flexibility - rigid maintenence of a body position over an extended period of time
Cataplexy: definition
Episodes of sudden bilateral loss of muscle tone resulting in the individual collapsing
Often in association with intense emotions
Catatonic behaviour: the five domains?
- Motor immobility (catalepsy)
- Purposeless agitation
- Extreme negativism (apparently motiveless resistance to instructions)
- Mutism
- posturing
- stereotyped movements
- Echolalia or exhpraxia
What is Capgras Syndrome?
A type of thought content delusional conviction
that a personally important individual has been replaced by a stranger
