  • Neurotransmitter hypothesis
    • increase chemicals that are low in depression (dopamine, noradrenaline, serotonin)

What is the standard Tx regieme for ECT course of therapy

When do you stop

A

ECT 2-3x per week

for 6-12 sessions

Endpoint – monitor when reaches plateau then add 2 extra sessions.

What drugs are involved in ECT

A

Anaesthetic + muscle relaxant (to avoid post-ictal sx)

Then a seizure is stimulated
