What is a directional / 1 tailed hypothesis ?
What’s a non directional hypothesis/ 2 tailed?
What’s a null hypothesis ?
A hypotheses prediction which way a conditions results will go and predicts if correlation will be positive or negative.
Only states there will be a difference in conditions and doesn’t state which way it’ll go.
The null hypothesis suggests there will be no difference in conditions and will be the opposite to your hypothesis.
Method is like the recipe for what you did in your research.
What should the method consist of?
1.) design (variables need to be operationalised) controls , p’s, apparatus, procedure, ethics.
How to write a consent form?
Outline aims
Then highlight risks and state are they protected
Give right to withdraw
Tell participants the duration of the study and when and where it’s going to be carried out?
Provide confidentiality
And get parents consent if participants are under 16.
Debrief key points?
Explain aims of study Show p’s results and what they mean Provide right to withdraw results Confidentiality Thanks p’s
What standardised instructions should always be used?
What the p’s are taking part in and what will be the duration of the study ?
What the participants are expected to do?
Explain the task in detail
Check understanding of p’s of what’s required of them
Provide an opportunity for questions.
