What is in an abstract?
It is the first section of a report and is brief at around 100-300 words. It contains a summery of the aims, method, results and conclusions of the study.
What is the purpose of an abstract?
It is designed to summarise the report so you can decide whether the study is worth examining further
What is in an introduction?
It has information on past theories on a similar topic with relevant theories, concepts and studies. It begins broad and becomes more specific until the aims and hypothesis of the study are revealed.

To provide information of past relevant research to the topic.
What is in the method?
What the researcher did in the study: design, sample collected (target pop, method, demographic data), material used, procedure (e.g. standardised instructions for participants, and ethics. significant detail
What is the purpose of the method?
it should have significant detail so anyone whop reads the method can replicate the investigation precisely
What is in the results?
All the findings from the study, presented with inferential and descriptive statistics. qualitative data may include a thematic analysis
What is the purpose of the results?
to present the results in a revealing way.
What is in the discussion?
The findings are summarised and discussed in the context of the introduction. limitations of the study (and how it can be improved) and wider implications for society are included here
What is the purpose of the discussion?
so the researcher considers what the findings mean for society and psychological theories.
What is in the referencing?
The last part of the report that lists all the sources that were quoted or referred to in the report. these are varied and full details are provided so the reader can find the exact source.

How to reference a book
author(s) -> date -> title of book -> place of publication -> publisher
How to reference a journal
author(s) -> date -> title of article -> journal name -> journal volume -> issue number -> page range
