uni-polar depression
a mood disorder causing periods of feeling sad and lacking motivation to do everyday activities
main symptoms of unipolar depression
- lowering mood
- lack of energy
- lack of motivation
Mono-zygotic twins
twins that developed from one fertilized egg that split into two, they are genetically identical

an explanation for depression that claims people can have a gene that makes them more likely to develop depression,but only if they face a stressful situation that triggers depressive thoughts

blocks the re uptake of serotonin which results in an improved mood

blocks the re uptake of serotonin and nor-adrenaline + lasts long and results in a n improved mood
monamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)
prevents the monamine enzymes from doing its job in order to increase the number of neurotransmitters
Trycrilics (TCA)
boosts serotonin and nor-adrenaline by preventing reabsorbstion = enhanced mood
Addiction
a psychological problem where people feel like they “need” a particular substance or activity

according to the international classification of diseases version 10 (ICD-10) addiction is classified as a dependence disorder
withdrawal
a set of unpleasant physical or psychological symptoms someone gets when they are trying to quit or cannot satisfy their addiction
